My name is Keely. I'm a wanna-be hipster and when I'm not chatting with you here on Hair Bows and Butter I'm working my way through a career in television (I promise, it's not quite as glamorous as you think). I'm a young 20something and I have a passion for baking, mainly cupcakes but I occasionally like to branch out into other forms of baking (just not sugar cookies, I apologize that there will never be sugar cookies posted on this blog). I love to edit recipes and try and turn them into something new and unique! Sometimes it's a fail (white tea and white grapefruit cupcakes) and sometimes it's a smashing success! (spiced apple and blackberry cupcakes). Once I'm done baking I aim to keep my newly grown out hair all tied up so that I don't have to use my straightener (I'm a bit of a hippie when it comes to my hair) so some instructions on that will be coming your way as well. Feel free to ask me anything, I can't wait to get to know you!
Thanks for stopping by, make sure to keep checking back for new and exciting things! Here's the current "schedule"
Sunday School-check in every other Sunday for a tutorial ranging from Sangria to crafts, something that I found inspiring and wanted to share.
Cupcake Tuesday-Monday nights are usually my baking nights, which means you get to see the results on Tuesdays. Make sure to check in every Tuesday for a new recipe!
Budget With Me Wednesday-Every Wednesday I will update you on my adventures in budgeting. Hopefully I can gain some trick and tips to share with you! Let's do this together!
Thrifted Thursday-I'll post photos of one awesome thing I've picked up a thrift store recently, possible tips on how to style it and some of my rules on thrifting!
Weekly Wrap Up-On Friday's I'll post all of my Instagrams from the week before. This way you can see the day-to-day and the way I see the world, and the way I find the beauty in my world.
Soundtrack Saturday-On Saturday's I feature one video of a song that I've enjoyed in the past week. This could be a local, Denver band or an incredibly popular national (or international) band. It depends largely on my mood and the course of my week.
A bit more about me. (Part of Me, Myself and I)
1. What is your biggest phobia?
I think my biggest fear is of failure. It scares me to try new things because I worry that I won't succeed. It's the type of fear that ends up keeping me from starting, but I try my best to overcome (hello blog!).
2. If you could relive any day of your life, what would it be and why?
So far in my life I would probably say that I would want to relive the day I left for London. I was traveling alone, no big deal, but I was flying internationally for the first time. My flights had changed times and instead of a 2 hour layover in Chicago I had a 10 hour layover in Chicago, over night, from 10pm to 8am. I was miserable but it was a really life changing day for me. I learned a lot about faith and independence.
The most private spot I could find in the airport. I did my best to sleep there, didn't really sleep at all.
3. If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what age would it be?
Older than I am now. I know it's weird, but every year I love getting older. I have a lot of friends who are older than I am and every year I hope to feel more their age. Every year I still get comments about how young I am, no matter how much older I get they will also continue to age at the same pace.
4. Which celebrity do you get mistaken for?
I have never once been mistaken for a celebrity. Guess that means I'm unique :)
5. What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
Mumford and Sons (White Blank Page, really that's just the way I see life), David Crowder (How He Loves, hello tears!), Parachute (Forever and Always, I mean really people it's the sweetest/saddest song ever and I love it). This list could easily change within the next 24 hours, but for now this'll do.
